Wow that's quite a photograph. The eye of the Cyclone looks very ominous as it approaches Western Australia. It's amazing what they can do these days with tracking weather patterns and predicting when and where storms will hit and how severe they will be. It always helps to have advance notice to be prepared.

The movie "The Day After Tomorrow" has some awesome-looking storm computerography and also, of course, stunning visual effects. It has a lesson on how we need to treat the earth and take care of the valuable resources we have and that we shouldn't be so careless in what we do. Oh this rice porridge just looks sooooooo good! Our family is very whole-grain oriented, but I totally agree with Dr. Ben Kim's statement that cooked white rice can be a healthy food choice in some circumstances.

And when the body can't tolerate a lot of fiber, white rice can give nutrition the body needs to heal in an easily digestible form.

Another interesting thing about white rice is this: Mothers with colicky babies can use the water that white rice was boiled in. Cooled off, this rice water helps to reduce or even eliminate colic.

I'm not sure whether I would want my rice porridge with something sweet like cinnamon and raisins or with something savory like fermented soy. I think I would like both.

Years ago I used to have rice pudding my Grandma made. I think it was more like the cinnamon and sugar version.

Yes! SOPA and PIPA bills did not pass today; they got postponed. They are poorly written and must not be passed in the present state in which they are written. Headlines at Forbes say, "Obama says so long SOPA, Killing controversial internet piracy legislation."

Many big website owners today such as Wikipedia, Reddit and Major League Gaming blacked out today. I was affected by the Warrior Forum's blackout, and noticed that Wordpress.org and Wordpress.com also joined the protest.

So apparently what happened is that Obama stepped in and said that he wouldn't support the bill. Good move.

I heard that a certain domain name registrar (the one with racing car girls in tight shirts) supported the bill and lost 10,000 customers within hours over that. Ouch!...They withdrew their statement. But please don't quote me on that. Go look it up. I hope I haven't spread a rumor. Well, it will be interesting to see what happens next.

Soon I will buy a pair of reading glasses that are one level weaker than the ones I've got, to train my eyes to do the focusing instead of relying on the lenses of my glasses to do all the work.

It works so much better to have the freedom of not being tied down to always needing reading glasses.

I love being able to see without glasses and I want my eyes to continue to get better and better until I am finally able to get rid of my glasses for good.

I keep getting tempted into buying one of those $97 courses on vision without glasses but fortunately I keep resisting the temptation. I think I can find all the information I need for free, if I just stay diligent in looking for it and then putting it to use.

I know that I will have achieved my goal when I can read and thread a needle without needing glasses. That's what I want.

It's really hard for business owners who get faulty or scammy bad reviews to do anything about it. Online reviews aren't as much of a threat as are the google places bad reviews. There seems to be almost no way of erasing them.

How do you stop an irate customer from posting numerous bad reviews? Once posted how do you get rid of them? That is a big source of contention for some google places owners who have been given false bad reviews.

Yet the rules are so stiff for businesses not soliciting or especially not paying for good reviews. Seems the customer wins at this game and not the business.

Even jealous competition can place negative scam reviews to their competitor's google places page and thus severely tarnish their reputation. It stinks.

I would like to see what reputation managers can do about this?

Well I was hoping this post would be possible with the accompaniment of a mushroom picture, but I guess it was not meant to be. Every time I choose to include the picture, it seems to disappear.

So, here are my thoughts on today's post. Well, it starts off by saying how much I love mushrooms. I love to try all varieties available, whether fresh, dried or canned. Frozen mushrooms aren't my favorite because they become too waterlogged.

Fresh are by far my favorite, but there are many asian types of mushrooms that are not available to me in the fresh form, so I go for dried.

Mushrooms add flavor, texture and interest to many dishes, as well as being a low-calorie, good source of vitamin B and some essential minerals, such as selenium, copper and potassium.

Mushrooms come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Some are very beautiful to look at. However, one must be very careful with mushrooms. Some varieties have the potential to kill with only a small nibble. Never gather and eat your own wild mushrooms unless you are well-trained and confident with your skills.

Otherwise, stick to cultivated mushrooms, and let your only worry be what recipe you want to try next.
